Kimberly's Legacy

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

My sister Kimberly and I experienced a difficult season in our relationship. For nearly two years, we were estranged, and I carried the weight of confusion and heartache over the distance between us. I did not understand why she no longer wanted a connection, and I deeply missed her friendship.

In the fall of 2020, Kimberly was diagnosed with glioblastoma—an aggressive and fast-growing brain cancer that quickly resists treatment. Despite the devastating diagnosis, she faced the journey ahead with courage and strength.

Kim underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She was then placed on a clinical trial medication that miraculously held the tumor at bay for 18 months. But in July 2022, the tumor returned. Once again, Kim chose to fight. She underwent a second brain surgery, which successfully removed a significant portion of the tumor.

After that surgery, Kimberly spent three weeks in both the hospital and a rehabilitation center recovering. During that time, she worked hard to regain her ability to walk, speak, and manage daily tasks. I was honored to walk beside her during this season—helping her, encouraging her, and witnessing her incredible perseverance and grace.

Kimberly went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023.

While I still feel the ache of her absence, I find deep comfort in knowing she is with Jesus. Kimberly had placed her faith in Him, and I hold on to the promise of Romans 10:9:

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Even now, on difficult days, I imagine her cheering me on from heaven—encouraging me to keep growing, to keep loving, and to live more like Jesus. Her life and faith have become a legacy that continues to inspire me. Because of Kim, I am more passionate than ever about helping others activate their faith and live boldly for Christ.

Her story is a reminder that even in the face of suffering, God's grace is real, and His hope is eternal.
